FAQ
What is a PLNTH plinth made of?
Natural stone including marble, granite, travertine and onyx, selected and finished by hand. Each piece carries its own veining, colour shift and surface character.
Are two plinths ever identical?
The geometry is consistent. The stone is not. Each piece carries its own veining, colour shift and surface character. Product images and material photographs are representative of the stone and finish; natural variation should be expected.
What sizes does Series 01 come in?
Three forms: Short (450 × 450 × 450 mm, approximately 73 kg), Standard (400 × 400 × 750 mm, approximately 90 kg), and Tall (400 × 400 × 900 mm, approximately 106 kg). Dimensions and weights are nominal and may vary slightly by stone and construction. Edition pieces vary — see each product page for the applicable specifications.
What finishes are available?
Finishes vary by stone and can include Honed, Polished, Leathered, Antique and other material-specific finishes. Availability is shown on each product page.
How much weight can a plinth hold?
PLNTH pieces are designed as architectural display plinths. Load capacity varies according to construction, stone and how the load is applied. For unusually heavy, concentrated or valuable objects, contact PLNTH before ordering so suitability can be considered for the intended use.
How are the plinths delivered?
Completed pieces are protected and professionally crated, then dispatched using specialist courier or freight services appropriate to the weight and destination. Delivery options and charges depend on location and access. Placement or installation assistance can be arranged on request and is quoted separately where required. Full details are available on the Shipping & Delivery page.
How long does an order take?
Series 01 and Edition pieces are primarily made to order. Our standard production lead time is approximately 14–21 business days from order confirmation, before dispatch. Bespoke commissions generally require 6–12 weeks depending on material, detailing and scope. Lead times are estimates and we will keep you informed as the piece moves through production, quality control, crating and dispatch.
Do you ship outside South Africa?
Yes. South African delivery is supported directly through the store. International orders are available by quotation because freight, crating, customs and destination requirements vary. Use the International Quote page or contact hello@plnth.co.za.
Can I order a custom size or stone?
Yes. Bespoke commissions are offered alongside Series 01 and Editions. Use the contact form with the intended size, stone preference, finish and use. Bespoke lead times are generally 6–12 weeks.
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes. PLNTH works with architects, interior designers, galleries, hospitality groups and project clients. Trade pricing is account-based and determined by project scope, order value and the ongoing relationship. Larger quantities and repeat specification are quoted individually. Email hello@plnth.co.za to apply.
How do I look after the stone?
Use a soft cloth, warm water and a pH-neutral stone cleaner when required. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners on natural stone. Full guidance is available on the Care & Maintenance page.
Can I return a plinth?
Return and cancellation rights depend on the nature of the order and applicable South African consumer law. Standard catalogue orders and genuine bespoke goods are treated differently. See the Returns & Refunds page for the current policy. Nothing in our policy limits statutory consumer rights.
What happens if my plinth arrives damaged?
Please inspect the crate and piece as soon as reasonably possible after delivery. Visible transit damage should be reported within 48 hours with photographs and the delivery reference so we can pursue the courier or freight claim promptly. This notification request does not limit statutory rights relating to latent defects or product quality.
